"Sidney Prescott, now an author of a self-help book, returns to his home in Woodsboro where is his last stop on the tour of his book, just in time for the tenth anniversary of city's slaughter, slaughter which ever escaped alive. There reconnects with the Sheriff Dewey and his wife Gale, who are married, as well as his aunt Kate and her cousin Jill. Unfortunately, the emergence of Sidney brings back Ghostface, making Sidney, Gale and Dewey, along with Jill and their friends and the whole town in danger. "
Scream 4 comes eleven years after the end of the original trilogy, a long eleven years in which the horror genre has changed radically and has diversified and branched out in different ways to bring fear and blood to the big screen, and what better way to celebrate this return to giving a critical and cynical look at the evolution of his own genre of the hand of those who best know how to laugh at themselves, Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson.
After a big, big effort to bring all the components that made it famous in the entire saga, Scream 4 back in top form to show how much has changed and influenced the various branches of the horror film genre eat now. That porno-torture, Asian cinema, and so sung remakes, it's all solfa reason for the world that creates self-referential Kevin Williamson in the continuation of the series that made him famous.
And not only follows the conventions of horror, but society has changed and the film is a true reflection of it. In these two respects, Williamson's script is excellent and perfect in the long run opening scene and the final revelation of the film, two of the higher moments of the movie and why not, the whole saga. The start accumulating all the bad milk to the new market of horror and accumulates a cameo after another, in a scene that surprises are revealed as little money (and this is just the beginning) while sweeping the final scene with all rules Set (New decade, new rules) and makes up a very relevant social criticism and violent the times.
On the other hand and leg while leading from start to finish can be a bit boring because the mystery is a bit tiresome, are the characters who bear the weight of the fabric and will not let you remove the smile off his face. Stereotypes still here but now no one has exclusivity in their field: almost all young people are aware of fashion and style of horror, and are not overlooked anything, especially in the area of \u200b\u200bmost remakes, the resonant detail in this issue, which also works (laugh) as a new reboot / reimagining / cooled to the saga. References to the horror may be too for a stranger to the series, but who knows about the world of horror will spend more than a good time in the room. The current trend is more visible than ever to have 2.0 technology with cameras filming the whole time and Ghostface's voice now coming out of an application in cellular
The multitudinous cast again brings top players as well as the originals, Neve Campbell Sidney Prescott brings her more fierce and determined than ever , ready for anything to forget once and for all past tragedies to return again and again to torment her. Courtney Cox and Gale Weathers (Riley this time) is more acidic than ever, although contaparte in David Arquette does not have that innocence that always made him known. Of the new generation, we must praise Emma Roberts, who here is catapulted to fame with a great protagonist, and Hayden Panettiere who steals every scene and in the third act, is an epic moment in which a breath released remakes name after another (it is even more impressive than in the trailers) as well as Rory Kulkin and Erik Knudsen, new ' Randys' horror geeks, and the character of Allison Brie, publicist Rebecca Walters, a gem. Mary McDonnell, however, is poorly used because it appears rarely in 2 scenes, sad for an actress of her stature, including cameos from Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell are far more interesting and juicy that the role of Kate, the mother of Jill and aunt of Sidney.
After stumbling badly with My Soul to Take last year, Wes Craven returns to the big leagues, as Scream 4 their best work in years and I would say, decades (the last vestiges of Scream, to put reference) Knowing how to adapt to new generations of films, Wes gave to this sequel with a great display of horror and blood, simply, is the most violent of the series (even more violent than the first) without any doubt. Although, I have to highlight it, at times the humor intelligent and 'meta' moments led coming out of the Scary Movie series, details the saga Scream, mocked in the lower laprincipal comedy, should be avoided at all costs.
Another significant step is without doubt the great soundtrack created by Marco Beltrami, who turns to look reissuing tunes used in the entire series, as well as incorporate new and sinister twist to a first ambient music. The soundtrack also shines with music by The Sounds, Ida Maria and others ...
Scream 4 is by far the best sequel to Scream. Provocative, bloody and totally aware of itself, is a quantum leap in quality with respect to previous releases, and a large sample of the horror film comedies poor living need not laugh at yourself. Missed.
