"In Fog, a supermarket becomes final bastion of humanity by invading an enemy land ... In the garrets unimaginable there are things that should be left alone, things like Monkey ... The most superb host of the world gives a man The shortcut Mrs. Todd to arrive earlier to paradise ... "
If The Fog not been published nineteen years before Silent Hill would say that Stephen King was inspired heavily in the game, but has been the opposite. In the first and longest story in the collection of stories Skeleton Crew (cruelly divided into four parts in English-speaking countries) a people is subjected to a heavy fog suddenly keeping more of uns unpleasant surprise, and of all sizes , color and shape imaginable. Those who have seen the wonderful adaptation in 2007 (my review is here ) may be a great and practical idea of \u200b\u200bthe novel, the be a short story or novella, the whole could adapt without getting anything on the road. If you can find a big difference between the end of the novel and film. Many know that the final film has a very loud and very outrageous (I will not say here) but the novel faces across kinder, less sinister worse still, cloudy and dark. All those monsters that appear were reflected accurately in the film, including the beautiful yet frightening Six Legs.
A great little gem from Stephen.
The following story is Mono, in which a cute stuffed monkey-shaped dishes is the bearer of bad news every time their little plates collide, and not only, also has a habit of returning again and again to the life of its owner, even if it is responsible for get rid of him again and again , knowing that if the dishes sound, someone close to him die ... and now that he has a wife and two children, fear becomes real. For much of history is boring and tiring half that evil teddy back forever, and only the end is addictive because of the unpredictability of the situation, although the ending is expected, especially given the perverse mania completing his uncle King stories.
Unexpectedly, the story that I liked about this book was The Shortcut Mrs. Todd, the in which a maniac at the wheel (in a good sense of being maniacal) decides to find shortcuts from one city to another without using Highway, using back roads to save miles and thus time. Seriously, I will not tell you more because it's wonderful the way in which the story unfolds and Ophelia Todd shortcuts increasingly short ... for a reason. The twist involves fantasy, obviously, but it is really wonderful this wonderful touch, the consequences it brings to Ophelia and Homer, her companion of the moment, so as well as the final, just wonderful.
The Mist I was very good, much like the movie, but the monkey was disappointed a bit, but everything ends of wonders in the Shortcut Mrs. Todd, an intriguing one, short and fine. We'll see how it evolves after this set of stories of Stephen. For now, it's a good trifecta of stories to read.
Rating: Very Good
