In Navarre, Aragon near the river is the Castle of Javier, the castle that was born 500 years ago to Francis Xavier. The Catholic Church declared him a saint and named patron of youth and missions.
Navarra, declared from the first patron of the Kingdom. The memory and reverence for Francisco Javier spread across all continents and today remains an unavoidable reference of universal culture.
The "Javieradas held in the framework of the Novena of Grace are definitely one of the most significant moments in the life of the sanctuary. Thousands of people walk from various points of the English, to celebrate the birthday Javier. Young people, in particular, encouraged by his presence and joy these days. Is traditional in the way of the cross Javieradas which runs the 8 miles between Javier Sangüesa.
In the Sanctuary, the most sorpende and attracts thousands of pilgrims, is the Christ of Javier. It is a size of walnut has a gentle smile that perhaps seduced Francisco and today to those who visit, his face generates peace and about the tenderness of God. Was found in the hollow of a wall hook, his arms dangling and subject to the back by a string. Apparently he was hiding there from the time of the Moors.
As is tradition, the family joins Conceptionist these Javieradas. A student of the College of Buitrago, experience tells us this year. Thank you, Raul, for your words and your closeness and simplicity in those days we shared.
My name is Raul Gonzalez Prieto, I have 17 years and study 1 º BACH Study Center Santa Maria del Castillo (Buitrago del Lozoya).
Last year I raised from the school the opportunity to attend a Javierada. I had never gone to any in the last minute my friend said he could not go and was the only guy that was in my class. Al first I thought it would be difficult to enjoy the experience because they did not know many people, but when he met fellow Hortaleza, Princess and the view that human flood in the pilgrimage, I realized that I was not alone. He was accompanied by thousands of young people as I had gone to the Javierada looking for something different. The pilgrimage was wonderful and helped me make new friends, learn more about my school mates and enjoy the scenery. When we arrived at the castle all join our requests in a common prayer, the Eucharist, which was very moving.
So beautiful was the experience that this year I decided to repeat. The smile of the people, the human tide flowing everywhere and the Christian meaning and concepts of the meeting encouraged me to return. More friends, the evening celebration in honor of our founder Mother Carmen or a visit to Burgos are some moments that I have taken this Javiera.
From here I want to encourage all youth to participate in the Javiera, it is a unique experience they will never forget.
I'm already preparing the next Javierada, and the next and the next, and ... But before we see at World Youth Day 2011.
Thanks for the experience I shared with you, comrades!
