A court order from a court in New York ordered the closure of LimeWire, one of the exchange sites larger files from the Internet. The program allowed the transfer of files between users through network-to-peer (P2P), which, according to the recording industry, digital piracy caused by sharing songs and movies.
The decision ends a four-year dispute between the company Lime Group and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA, for its acronym in English).
